Avonworth JV Volleyball Lady Lopes bounce back with a 2-0 win against visiting Carlynton, 25-11, 25-12.
Both the first and second sets remained close at the beginning of the match. In the first set the Avonworth JV trailed 9-10 at one point, and in the second set they only held a 9-8 lead. However at those points in the sets, the Lady Lopes went on massive serving runs and never looked back. In the first set, Sophomore Outside Hitter Gemma Kosko went on a 7 point run followed by another 7 point run by Freshman Middle Hitter Victoria Huffmyer to close out the first set. In these runs, Kosko had 4 aces and Huffmyer had 2. In the second set, Freshman Setter Alivia Lantzy had a stand out night with a 14 point run. Of those 14 points, Lantzy aced the Carlynton back row 8 times.
Lantzy also contributed to the Lady Lopes offense, running a 5-1 offense for the first time this season; she registered 10 assists throughout the match. Freshman Outside Hitter Nora Kate Gavin flanked Lantzy in the offense with 7 kills, and Kosko added 2 kills of her own with a 66.7% hitting percentage.
The JV Lady Lopes look forward to rematches next week at Seton LaSalle and at home against Keystone Oaks.
