Multiple Teams · Anna Igims Improves Time at State Championship


piaa-logo-300x172Congratulations to Anna Igims who represented Avonworth Cross Country at this past weekend’s PIAA State Championship Race in Hershey, PA!  Competing against the top 230 runners in the state, she finished a very impressive 58th overall!  This was the second consecutive year in a row that Anna qualified for the state championship, improving on her time from last year by 40 seconds and moving up almost fifty spots in the results!  Anna and her coaches would like to thank the students, teachers, staff, teammates, and Mrs. Dwulit for the great send-off last Friday!

CaptureThe Boys and Girls Swim Team will be sponsoring a swim clinic on Saturday, November 11th from 9:00 AM – 12:30 AM at Northgate High School. The clinic will be run by the High School Swimmers and is for youth ages 6-13 who are looking to learn more about competitive swimming and improve your technique in a fun and relaxed environment. Registration: Register Here

The Avonworth boys varsity soccer team’s season came to abrupt halt with a 3-1 loss to Seton LaSalle in the opening round of the playoffs, 3-1.

The Rebels converted all three of its goals on headers, two on throw-ins and one on a corner kick. Jason Novosel converted a Tyler Bryan corner kick nine minutes into the second half to make the game close

Corey Dick had nine saves.

Avonworth varsity soccer coach Tom Angel earned his 100th victory, as the Antelopes defeated Waynesburg Central 3-0.

Addison Dexter got the Lopes on the board 18 minutes into the first half, banging in a rebound on an assist from Jonah Brandt. Jason Novosel scored twice in the second half, with Sam Guzzo and Matthew Carraway assists.

The defense, led by Daniel Tallman, Tyler Smith, Jonathon Nicolaus, and Carraway, helped secure the team’s 12th shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Corey Dick had 7 saves.

Avonworth finished the regular season with a 12-6 record. They will take on Seton LaSalle 3pm Saturday at Chartiers Valley HS.

Multiple Teams · Runners Prepare for WPIALs at Freedom Invitational


On a beautiful fall afternoon, the Avonworth Cross Country teams wrapped-up their 2017 regular season on Wednesday at the Freedom Invitational at Brush Creek Park. This is the last competitive meet the Varsity Teams will participate in prior to the WPIAL Championships which will be held on Thursday, October 26th.

The Girls Middle School team finished in 2nd place, 9 points behind meet winner Quaker Valley. 7th grader Lindsey Hartle led the lopes with a 4th place finish. Laural Purcell and Taea Schriefer also placed in the top 10.
