The Avonworth Wrestling team won in dominating fashion last night. The Match starting in the 138 pound weight class where Riverview forfeited to Freshman sensation Joe Boughton. Joe leads the team in victories with 18. Next up for Avonworth in the 145 pound weight class was Anthony Mundorf whose opponent defaulted halfway through the second period giving Avonworth 6 team points. Anthony was followed by Tim Eng in the 152 pound weight class. In one of the most exciting matches of the evening Tim was able to pin his opponent in the second period. Avonworth then forfeited the 160 pound weight class. Next up was Jeremiah Georges at 170 pounds. Jeremiah wrestled hard in a match that changed leads several times before Jeremiah was also able to get a second period fall. There was no match at 182 pounds as neither team had a competitor at that weight class. At 195 and 220 pounds Riverview forfeited to Mac Suto and Jake Barbabella respectfully.  There was no match at heavyweight nor at the 106 pound weight class and we got things going again at 113 pounds where Ryan Mchirella also pick up a forfeit. At this point the match score was 42-6 and we sent Mike Blaser out to wrestle one of the top 120 pounders in the WPIAL. Mike wrestled well but came up short to a better opponent. Then it was onto the feature match of the evening where 14th ranked Callen Suto took on 12th ranked Isaac Murphy of Riverview. It was a back and forth match with both wrestlers scoring points in the 1st period. In the second period Murphy was able to secure a takedown and caught Callen on his back for the fall We finished the evening with Eli Kauer pinning his opponent in the second period.

Final Team score was Avonworth 48< Riverview 18.

Next up for the wrestlers is 2 matches on Saturday at and with Moon High School and Peters Township. First Match is 11:00 am.
