To all interested community members,
As most of you are aware we had a record number of girls try out for our Varsity Cheerleading squad this past spring. After the final selections were made it became evident that there were very few Freshman and Sophomores that made the squad. To maintain the current level of skill and development for the coming years it necessitated us to look at forming a JV squad. After coach Sara Todd put together a proposal and it was presented to the Board the Avonworth School Board has graciously approved the formation of a JV cheerleading squad.
At this point, we have begun the process of hiring a coach for the squad. We do not take this process lightly because just like any other hire the district makes we want to make sure the person we get is the right person for the job. As with any open position,we are obligated by district policy to have a 14 day internal posting of this position to allow any faculty and staff the first opportunity to express an interest in this new position. At the end of this 14 day posting we will advertise and open the position to the general public.
After a reasonable amount of time we will look through all received resumes and begin the interviewing of possible candidates. Once a candidate has been selected we will present this person to the school board for approval.
I realize this sounds like a long and arduous process but it is one we must adhere to to make the best selection for our team and our district. Our goal is to complete the hiring process either by the July 26 board meeting, or the August 9 meeting based on the progress made on the interviews.
As for right now, we ask for your patience as we progress through the process. Once the coach has been selected we will advise everyone of the team selection process.
